Wait until you see a confirmation dialogue box pop up.
Scroll down until you see the Reset Settings button. Wait for the expanded options menu to appear. Click on the Settings button and head to the Advanced section. Check if the Windows defender scam is gone. Tap the Refresh button again to confirm. Go to the Troubleshooting Information page and then choose the Refresh button. Click the Help menu from the drop-down menu that appears. Click on the menu icon (the three horizontal lines on the side). Restart your computer and check if the Windows defender security warning scam has been dealt with. Tap the Reset Settings button to proceed with the reset feature. Select Reset Settings to bring back your default settings (will be under Reset and Clean Up). Click on Settings from the available options. Wait for a small drop-down menu to appear. 
Open Google Chrome settings by tapping the three vertical dots on the top right corner of the Chrome page. In case you're wondering, no, you won't lose any browsing history. The process to follow will differ depending on your browser. 
Any custom settings that you've saved will be cleared. Just keep in mind that when you do this, all of your default settings will be restored. From all the tricks to try, resetting your browser settings is the easiest.
